More than money

Andrea Barnes ’18—a public policy major with education and Hispanic Studies minors from Fort Washington, Maryland—is the first in her family to go to college and to travel abroad. She also UNC-Chapel Hill’s first Mount Vernon Leadership Fellow. She’s a Margerison Distinguished Scholar. And she’s a Carolina Covenant Scholar.

Coming to you from Seville, Spain, where she studied abroad in fall 2016, Andrea talks about what the Carolina Covenant means to her.

Until Oct. 12, 2017, the Give for Good: Scholarship Challenge will match all donations, up to $20 million, to the Carolina Covenant and the Morehead-Cain Scholarships. This challenge will help students like Andre forge their own path to leadership through service.

This is story number 131 in the Carolina Stories 225th Anniversary Edition magazine.
