Pursuing a Dream

Enrique Rojas-Martinez

Enrique Rojas-Martinez ’23 has been pursuing his dream of becoming a doctor since he was just six years old.

Through various jobs and experiences, he has learned what it takes to succeed in the medical field and is prepared to do so. He will be able to continue this preparation as a new member of the second cohort of the Pulso Scholars, a pipeline program through the Carolina Latinx Center designed to promote academic and professional success among minority Carolina students interested in medical school and other health professions.

On top of the resources, being a part of this cohort will provide Rojas-Martinez with a sturdy support system and mentorship network that will help him navigate his career path.

“There are plenty of other students in the same spot as you,” said Rojas-Martinez. “Being able to have that support group to talk about classes, how things are going and being able to have those people to talk and to relate to you is really important.”
