A fit for physics

Published on March 24, 2016

“Many people get tired when they do math. For me, it wakes me up.”

Alex Mina discovered in high school that he enjoyed problem solving and doing Rube Goldberg exercises in physics much more than any other subject. He brought his love for math and science to Chapel Hill as a Chancellor’s Science Scholar. It didn’t take long for him to discover a passion for Carolina, too.

“When I had my interview for the CSS program, I could really see myself at Carolina. … It felt like my family away from home. It was amazing.”

This is story number 129 in the Carolina Stories 225th Anniversary Edition magazine.
