Sheps survey results

The UNC Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research, commonly referred to as Sheps, is committed to public service and keeping up with the ideals of North Carolinians. 

The faculty and staff at Sheps have proven this commitment during these trying pandemic times by drawing from their expertise, data and connections to quickly mobilize in response to COVID-19. The Sheps IT team worked with Jacqueline Halladay, M.D., M.P.H., and the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC) in Asheville to build a web-based platform to support data collection and outreach efforts to understand the needs of primary care practices dealing with the pandemic. 

Within days, a survey and data collection systems were developed and deployed to hundreds of practices in Western North Carolina. Medical students and other volunteers called primary care practices to inquire about training needs, setting up telehealth, supply shortages, behavioral health needs and more. 

This is just one example of the many ways in which the Sheps Center, MAHEC and other Carolina programs have taken initiative to address the COVID-19 pandemic.
