An Opportunity to Learn

Published on April 1, 2020

When classes were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, UNC Kenan-Flagler’s MBA@UNC program improvised, enrolling 139 online M.B.A. students in a new online course: “COVID-19 Exploration.”

This course not only gave the students an opportunity to make up for missed credit hours lost due to the virus, but it allowed the students to explore COVID-19 and its implications in real time.

“To our knowledge, UNC Kenan-Flagler was the first business school to deliver a for-credit course on the coronavirus,” says Brad Staats, associate dean of M.B.A. programs and an operations professor, who led the course development.

While leveraging both Kenan-Flagler’s online learning and health care expertise, through this class, health professionals, professors and industry executives are exploring how business people can effectively lead, manage and navigate during the COVID-19 crisis.
