Focusing on the right popularity

When most people hear the word “popular” they think about their time in high school, who was most cool, visible, confident or powerful. That is one type of psychology that’s been studied, and it turns out, that kind of popularity can lead to bad outcomes.

Mitch Prinstein, the John Van Seters Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience, studies popularity that we should care about, the kind of popularity that forms even earlier in life and its role in human development and how it affects adults in their personal and professional lives.
