A forum for the issues that move you

“People believe that the answers are simplistic, and they’re not. That’s what motivated us in the beginning trying to understand what causes these discrepancies in health.”

As public health students and members of the Minority Student Caucus in 1977, Bill Jenkins and Geni Eng had questions that none of their coursework addressed. They were interested in issues not being discussed. So they created an event to discuss them.

More than 40 years later, the Annual Minority Health Conference at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health is the largest and longest running student-led public health conference in the nation.

And true to its founding, Jenkins says today’s conference continues to provide the opportunity to ask questions and find answers for what “moves you as a person.”
