Gap year provides global perspective

“I’ve learned to see things from people’s points-of-view, in their contexts. Doing that dissolves any judgment I may have on their intentions, on their motivations, on why they do the things they do. We’re all fighting battles. Let’s be allies.”

As a Global Gap Year Fellow, Quincy Godwin travelled to Mt. Kilimanjaro, Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar, to Delhi and Rajasthan and Mumbai and Kerala.

The Global Gap Year Fellowship program was funded by anonymous gift of $1.5 million to the UNC Campus Y. It’s the only college-sponsored gap year program where students have the freedom to design their international experience.
