One Person Can Make a Difference

Allen Hammonds and Cassandra Weatherford care deeply about the experience of Carolina student-athletes and are passionate about providing opportunities for female student-athletes.

Thanks to their support, in spring 2021, Carolina women’s rowing christened a second Vespoli racing shell to its fleet. Hammonds and Weatherford, who feel strongly that one person can make a difference, named the racing shell Numquam Cede I — “Never Give Up.”

To further the impact of their gift, Hammonds and Weatherford issued a challenge gift. The two Rams Club members will match any up to $50,000 in donations received before June 30, 2021.

“Our program is fortunate to have new, high end racing boats,” interim co-head coach Thomas Revelle said. “Having this expensive equipment would not be possible without the generous support of alumni, parents and fans.”
