Passing the Olympic torch in Chapel Hill

Charles Shaffer Jr. ’64, ’67 (J.D.), an Atlanta attorney, was one of the early members of the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games, the organization that successfully pitched what began as an unlikely proposal into a successful bid for the 1996 Games. For his work, he participated in the torch relay and got to choose where he wanted to run. So where does a UNC alum with family ties to Carolina decide to bring the Olympic torch when the opportunity arises?
